IdeasTap Photographic Award: India & Nepal: Three Worlds
In eastern traditions, the ideas of 'Maya', 'Karma', and 'Dharma' (The world of illusion, Cause & Effect, and The right way of living), play an integral part of everyday life. The philosophical notions of life and death are not only seen in individual ritualistic practises however, but en-masse as large populations in the region try to find the delicate balance between everyday enjoyment, and spiritual and cultural liberation.
Inspired by, and as a result of this interaction, my focus in this body of work has been to hint at the concepts of human scale, and to show both individual and mass behaviours as they go about living their lives in such attempted balance.
